Collaborations | The museum has spaces available for community groups or individuals wishing to display or produce an exhibition or event.

At PHM we have an exciting programme of exhibitions, events and learning sessions that engage audiences with our stories and collections at the home of ideas worth fighting for.

Community exhibitions, events, projects and other partnerships

The People’s History Museum (PHM) has two exhibition spaces available for community groups or individuals wishing to display or produce an exhibition.  Both the 2018 and 2019 community exhibition programmes are finalised, however we are currently looking for groups or individuals wishing to produce or showcase an event at the museum in 2019.

If you are interested in having an event at the museum in 2019, find out more here.

If you are interested in working with us in another way, for example on a project or partnership please complete an Expression of Interest Form so we can assess your initial ideas.  These proposals will be assessed at monthly programme meetings.  If your idea fits with our planned programming, a member of the Programme Team will get in touch to discuss your idea and request more information to assess whether we have the capacity to work with you.

Please bear in mind the following:

  • Community events, projects and partnerships are programmed months and sometimes years in advance.  If you have an idea, then we require as much notice as possible to check availability
  • We will not programme anything without a clear, defined target audience and a clear plan on how to reach this audience
  • Programmes must adhere to the concept of equal opportunities taking into account physical and intellectual access

For further information please call the museum on 0161 838 9190 and ask to speak to a member of the Programme Team or email

Please note that we receive a large quantity of requests to work with the museum, from individuals and organisations with lots of inspiring ideas. We are a relatively small team and unfortunately do not have the resources to work with everyone who gets in touch.

The Past, Present & Future of Protest - 2019 open call for public events

2019 marks 200 years since the Peterloo Massacre, a major event in Manchester’s history, and a defining moment for Britain’s democracy.  To commemorate this monumental anniversary, the People’s History Museum (PHM) will explore the changing face of protest: past, present and future.
