People’s History Museum is passionate about collaboration

Collaboration means working together to share ideas, skills and opinions and create something new.

Through collaboration we aim to deliver a programme that is diverse, accessible and engaging for all.

If you would like to work with us, please read the following information and then get in touch.

Exploring migration

People’s History Museum (PHM) is currently exploring the theme of migration.  We are working with a Community Programme Team to co-create a programme of events and exhibitions that will be delivered in 2020 and 2021.

PHM’s exhibition programme is now fully booked until May 2022.  The events programme is confirmed until June 2021.

If you are interested in working with us on this programme or would like more information please email Zofia Kufeldt, Programme Officer on zofia.kufeldt@phm.org.uk.

Exploring disabled people’s rights and activism

In 2022 we will explore the history of disabled people’s rights and activism through a co-curated exhibition and accompanying programme of events.

We are currently working with a steering group of disabled people on this programme.

If you are interested in working with us on this programme, have an idea for an event, exhibition or project connected to this theme or would like more information please email Michael Powell, Programme Officer on michael.powell@phm.org.uk

Decision making

We receive a large number of enquiries from people who would like to work with us.  Unfortunately, we don’t have the capacity to work with everyone.

Once a month the Programme Team meet to discuss new enquiries.  We prioritise opportunities that have the potential to do one or more of the following things:

  • Engage new and diverse audiences
  • Improve access to the museum, the programme and collection
  • Raise the profile of the museum
  • Expand knowledge and perspectives on the museum collection
  • Generate income for the museum
  • Respond to the climate emergency and reduce the museum’s environmental impact

Sending us your idea

If you are interested in collaborating with us, please send a short email, video message or sound recording to events@phm.org.uk and answer these questions:

  • Who are you?
  • What is your idea?
  • Does your idea need money to do it and if so, roughly how much?
  • When would you like your idea to happen?

Don’t worry if you can’t answer all of the questions above, we can always discuss your idea in more detail at a later stage.

If you are unable to put your idea into an email, video message or sound recording you can call 0161 838 9190 and ask to discuss your idea with a member of the Programme Team.

You can also send us your idea by post to:

Please note that we usually need at least five months’ notice to programme events, projects or activities.

Once a month the Programme Team will review all ideas that have been shared and get in touch to let you know if it’s an idea we think we can work on together.
