Description
A postcard featuring artwork by Tabitha Salmon entitled 'Greenham Common Peace Camp 1984 / Collecting Wood (Green Gate March)" The artwork depicts women stood around the edges of the RAF Greenham Common site collecting wood whilst a uniformed guard watches on from an outlook post. Text on the back reads: "Firewood was becoming increasingly scarce - it was always damp and avoiding smoke became an occupational hazard. The fence here was dishevelled and the guard was perched on a makeshift watchtower or scaffolding. Beyond the wire the landscape was rutted and messy." The postcard was produced by the Creative Connection in 1985 and has a handwritten message on the back: "Women demand PEACE for the world."
