A message from Katy Ashton, Director
We miss you all at People’s History Museum… our visitors, our customers, our schools, our communities, our partners and our friends. We know we are all doing things very differently at the moment as we adapt and protect ourselves and others, and as we unite behind the message #StayHomeSaveLives.
Our team has been rethinking and reshaping our programmes so that we can continue to inspire people through our collections, content, and ideas worth fighting for. Especially now, it is so important for us to share and encourage care and compassion, and to inspire people to use their voice and take positive action. While we can’t welcome you into our building, we want to continue to bring people together for shared experiences and conversations, to help us all feel more motivated, more connected, and less isolated.
We hope our digital events, activities, and resources will do all of this. Please do take a look at our Ideas Worth Exploring at home and online, keep in touch, and support us how you can. Thank you.

Ideas Worth Exploring – at home and online
The museum might be closed but you can still explore PHM’s collections, learn stories about the people who changed the world, participate in suggested activities, create protest material and connect with our online events to continue to share and discuss ideas worth fighting for. From fun activities for toddlers to home learning for adults, there is something to keep everyone inspired. Streaming live this Thursday 7 May, join My First Protest Song and make some noise with toe tapping tunes from times of change. As the Vital Voters of the future, we’re inviting young people to take our three minute film challenge to let the world know what matters to them. Take time to explore PHM’s collections, through five object highlights, ten treasures, and 15 short films. Check out our latest blog to find out how you can get involved, keep in touch, and support us.

Ideas worth supporting
Even though our building is closed, and several important sources of income are affected, we are still working hard to spread hope and inspire action. Our work has never felt so relevant, with the museum telling the story of the founding of our NHS, campaigns for workers’ rights, and the fight for a fairer world; past, present and future. Join us in solidarity in these unprecedented times by sharing Ideas Worth Exploring, making a donation, or by joining PHM’s Radicals campaign, helping us continue to champion ideas worth fighting for.
