Journeys Festival International presents The Channel, an installation by artist Isobel Tarr that enables you to communicate across borders. For nine days, people
in Manchester will be able to connect with people indefinitely detained in UK immigration removal centres via the installation, which resembles an old fashioned telephone box.
You are invited to listen to messages from real people in these centres and join the conversation by adding your own voice to the artwork.
Accompanying workshops offered in the space give the chance to ask how we can break down borders together in our
communities. These ‘exchange’ workshops will be delivered in collaboration with local community groups actively engaged in campaigning to end detention in the UK.
