Description
Wooden, makeshift shelter constructed of pallets and sheets of hardboard covered with polythene sheeting.
The shelter stood outside Deansgate Ambulance station in Manchester during the ambulance workersâ dispute of 1989 to 1990.â¯â¯The strike involved 19,000 workers seeking improved pay.â¯â¯After rejecting a government offer, the strike escalated, leading to intervention by the British Army.â¯â¯The strike ended in success for the workers when a pay deal was reached. The shelter was dismantled on 7 October 2007.
Dismantled from Deansgate Ambulance station and re-assembled accurately by NMLH staff.
