A red poster reading "THE NATION'S PROBLEM IN A NUTSHELL / We're up against it! We WORK or WANT" featuring three boxes displaying sketches of people, ships, and an outline of a lump of coal. The first box reads: "WE NEED 40,000 MORE MINERS to give us more COAL, 75,000 MORE TEXTILE WORKERS to give us more CLOTHES, 40,000 MORE FARM WORKERS to give us more FOOD, THESE GAPS MUST BE FILLED", the second box reads: "WE NEED more imports from abroad (cotton, rubber, tea and the like than our export now pay for. This can't go on. We must export one third more this year or get less and fare worse" and the third box reads "WE NEED at leaste eleven million tons more coal this year. A shortage of coal means a shortage of everything"
