This cartoon cruelly satirises the migration of hundreds of Scotsmen threatening English jobs. Newton distorts the features of his Scottish caricatures and portrays them as unkempt showing naked bottoms under their kilts. They are carrying brooms which they used as scratching posts to relieve
their itching as they were said ever to wash.
