Description
Camden Labour Briefing banner, 1980s
In 1980, Labour Party members in Camden founded the London Labour Briefing as a magazine for Labour Party activists. It soon spread across the country and became the Labour Briefing, which is still published today.
This banner was made by socialist activist Dave Bangs in the mid-1980s and is painted with a crowd of people jeering the miniature figures of three politicians, including Margaret Thatcher. The banner was taken on demonstrations in Britain against council cuts, rate capping, the Poll Tax, and to show support for the Miner's Strike of 1984-5.
