Postcard, 'Votes for Women'
This postcard depicts a woman writing on the back of a man in a coat and flat cap, who writes on the back of a man dressed in a robe and crown, writing on a poster. The woman holds a poster reading 'votes for women' and writes 'Women are hald the people & demand a voice in deciding the taxes'; the man in the flatcap writes 'The Commons as representatives of the people must decide the taxes', while the crowned figure writes on the poster 'The people not the commons must decide the taxes'. The postcard is signed by A. Patrio.
The reverse is printed with the words 'Fascimile of a Suffragette postcard in the London Museum' and 'London Museum 72/5. Printed in England by The Campfield Press, St. Albans. (c) Crown copyright 1972'. Ink stamps on the reverse reas 'Labour Party Photograph Library, No. Women's Suffrage' and 'The Labour Party Library, Transport House, Smith Square, London, SW1P 3JA'.
