Hand-painted poster, from the Communist Party of Great Britain collection, 1936
This poster is one of the most interesting in the CPGB collection. It is hand-drawn and painted on brown paper. The image shows a woman weeping, next to the words "Fascist Work in Spain". Behind the woman are drawings of bombed-out buildings as well as another poster, pasted onto the paper. This poster is the famous "Madrid" poster from the Spanish Civil War, showing a child victim of a fascist bombing campaign with the words "If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next".
