Description
A large green poster with a white border. The poster features photographed figures of children (taken by Nora Dumas) standing near a blackboard. The poster was produced by the French Communist Party to advocate for more spending on public education, around the time of the 1956 elections. Text reads: "Let's defend the lay school / School of patriotism and republic citizens / We ask for books, notebooks, aprons, shoes, canteens⦠/ Let's ensure French children's hope for free education at all levels / All united for a republic based on government responsibility before the nation's elected officers" (translated from French). The back of the poster shows a detailed map of Drapers town in Northern Ireland, written in German. Possibly this was a page in a magazine or publication that printed on both sides.
