Description
A white poster with red highlights and black text, advertising 'Outlook for Mining', a book written by Will Paynter, head of the National Union of Mineworkers in the 1950's. A red box in the upper left corner of the poster has black text which reads "Ever miner should read", a black box in the centre has white text which reads "OUTLOOK FOR MINING", and a red box with red text reads "by WILL PAYNTER" Black text at the bottom reads "With an introduction by Arthur Horner". The book 'Outlook for Mining' was published in 1958 by the Communist Party. Will Paynter was an active member of the Communist Party and a long-standing member of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM). He participated in the General Strike in 1926 after which he became president of the South Wales Miners' Federation before becoming president of the NUM. Paynter died in 1965, two years after he stepped down from the NUM. Condition: good
