Description
Communist party 'People's march for jobs' poster, 1981-1983 The People's March for Jobs occured in 1981 and again in 1983, initiated by the Merseyside County Association of Trades Councils as a protest to mass unemployment under Margaret Thatcher's leadership. The march started in Liverpool and ended in London, a journey of over 300 miles, joined by 'feeder marches' from Yorkshire and South Wales. The poster has a white background and features a sketch drawing of the people's march for jobs. A long line of people walk through a door that says 'unemployment exchange' and into the march, carrying banners and placards. A banner at the front of the march reads "People's march for jobs" in black letters. The poster has a red border at the top and bottom of the poster, reading "Thatcher & co have got to go" at the top and "Communist Party poster" at the bottom.
