Description
A black poster with white text and a white photographic print of Tahir Akram. Poster reads "RACIST MURDER OF Beloved son and brother of our people Tahir Akram 10.1.74-26.7.89 Picket & Demonstration / Tuesday 5th June 1990, ASSEMBLE 9.30am, Crown Sq, Deansgate, Manchester / First day of the alleged murderer Trial" The poster was made by the Tahir Akram memorial committee.

Tahir Akram was a 14-year old who was murdered in Oldham in 1989 in a racist attack by a group of armed white youths, who shot him in the neck whilst he was posting a letter. The group had previous offences relating to the murder of an African man, Vincent Grady, and Abdul Gafor Rajpoot, and young Asian man. Despite this, the police determined the attack on Tahir Akram was not racially motivated, provoking widespread outrage from the local Oldham community. This poster advertises a demonstration against this ruling, due to take place outside the hearing of the alleged murderers' trial.
