Description
Large poster with blue and white sky-like background, white parts look like clouds. In smaller purple writing it says "The Communist Party Says, Sign the petition" and In large purple capital letters which cover the whole page, it says "FREEZE PRICES NOW." During the 1970s there was a copious amounts of economic instability, as well as hikes in prices. This poster is potentially referring to the Winter of Discontent from November 1978 to 1979 in the U.K, characterised by widespread strikes by private, and later public, sector trade unions demanding pay rises greater than the limits the government had been imposing. Inflation was extremely high due to the recession, and this paired with the pay caps the government had imposed led to resistance, strikes and protest. There are some dirt marks on the poster and a few creases.
