Description
Cartoon comic strip on cardboard. There are three images - these are black and white against white/yellowed paper. The bottom right of the cartoon says "Walt Disney." There is copyright information is smaller black text saying "1930, King Features Syndicate, Inc., Great Britain rights reserved 17." The first cartoon image is a figure of Mickey Mouse (popular Disney character) holding a gun - there is a speech bubble for Mickey house saying "S-t-tt-tand back""Dogg-g-g-gone you-or i'llfill you full of l-l-l-lead!!" This is addressed to the other character in the image, which is a large lion, grinning and salavating. The second image shows Mickey Mouse smiling, holding the gun - he says "Say your prayers big boy - this is your finish!!!." The lion looks scared. There is the word "click" next to the gun, conveying the sound effect. The last image on the cartoon is of Mickey Mouse with his eyes shut clenching his teeth, he is holding the gun and it says "pop!!", a bullet comes out, attached
to a piece of a string - the lion looks scared. The third image is different as the backgrounds on the images are quite plain, whereas the third image has an image which looks like an explosion in the background. This was made in 1930 - 1930 saw the rapid rise of Hitler, the Great Depression in America after the 1929 Wall Street Crash, and other political changes. The cartoon could be making a statement about war.
