Description
Large white paper; slightly creased. Large drawing by Renzo Galeotti, in ink, watercolour and charcoal(?). The art piece shows figures of people and their faces on top of each other, in a pile. This is in black and white, The top figure has large arms, encompassing the people below. It almost looks like figures are merging into one. There are abstract drawings of faces within the top figure, and underneath there are 7 faces sketched, one of these faces is drawn in much fuller detail - the detailed face shows someone who is scared, with large eyes and a mouth in an 'O' shape. Underneath this there is a large central figure looking up at the other faces - this figure looks distressed. They have their hands reaching out, which are drawn large. There is a chain looking drawing attached to these hands, with the words "imperialism" coming out of either hand. Surrounding the figures, there is black etching/shadows. This drawing seems to be making a statement about imperialism, implying society is chained by imperialism, and trapped within this rigid system. On the bottom right of the poster it says "R. Galeotti." On the back reverse inscription, it says "Women unity" and an address. Renzo Galeotti is a painter, known for his work on Communist thinker Antonio Gramsci and author and holocaust-survivor Primo Levi - fourteen of his etchings are exhibited in the Auschwitz Museum and three of his paintings are in Krakow Jagiellonskiego Museum's European Master's collection. He has written in Marxism Today.
