Description
Dark purple poster with a pink spot and white text, around 1961. This poster was printed by the Communist Party of Great Britain during the Cold War to protest the Western Bloc's involvement in communist states. One of the main objections of the Communist Party and many others in the peace movement was the deployment of US nuclear weapons to UK bases and the threat of nuclear war and the re-armament of West Germany, who they still saw as being under fascist rule. A large pink spot is in the top left hand corner of the poster, next to which the words "The West German Menace" are printed in white text. Underneath, the headings "Hitler's Men are back in power" and "The New German Army", are printed in pink, with white writing underneath. The text is as follows: "HITLER'S MEN ARE BACK IN POWER... All the
West German Generals served under Hitler. Krupp, war criminal, is bacl in business, the richest man in Europe. Tw-thirds of the judges, three-quarters of the Diplomatic Service worked under Hitler. THE NEW GERMAN ARMY. By 1962 the West German army will be as strong as all the other armies in Europe put together. The Navy, now 25,000 strong, is building 6,000-ton guided-missile warships. The airforce, already airborne, has 64,000 mean and aims to have 100,000. THE WEST GERMAN RULERS PLAN A WAR OF REVENGE AND AIM TO DOMINATE EUROPE.". Condition: good, slight tear in lower right corner.
