Date
1972-1975

Description
Red poster with white text and a photograph of two young people smiling and holding a placard. Text at the top reads "IT'S OUT FUTURE" and text at the bottom reads "SAY NO TO THE COMMON MARKET" This poster was produced by the Young Communist League (YCL) to campaign against Britain's membership of the EEC (European Economic Community), which was later integrated into what became the EU (European Union). The Communist Party and the YCL were against Britain being part of the EEC as the EEC provided no worker protection and refused to adopt full employment as one of its objectives. There was also a concern that British wages would suffer as a result of competition with lower paid workers overseas, impacting young people's employment opportunities.
