Part of "100 posters, socialist image, designed by Ettore Vitale for the direction of the Italian socialist party." This is part of a collection of one hundred Italian Socialist Party posters designed by artist, Ettore Vitale. This poster is a large with a blue and white background. The blue section is designed like waves in a sea.The poster has several sections of text in Italian. On the top right of the poster it reads "Direction PSI, women's policies department, Tuscan, Regional Committee, PSI federation of Livorno." Livorono is a city in Italy. PSI stands for 'Partito Socialista Italiano' (ITalian Socialist Party). The centre of the poster says "The Richness of Diversity ." The bottom left of the poster has white text, translating to "National Day of the Pink Carnation Second Edition, Livorno 14/23 September 1990. Citizenship Rights and Women and Men in an Equal,Serene, Just Safe, Society. The bottom right of the poster has the logo for the Italian Socialist Party - it is red, round and has a red carnation in the middle. The PSI was rather unusual among mainstream socialist/social-democratic parties in Europe in using the hammer and sickle as its symbol. However, the symbolism of the party was gradually moderated. In 1978 Craxi decided to change the party logo of the party. He chose a red carnation to represent the new course of the party, in honour of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal. The party shrank the size of the old hammer and sickle in the lower part of the symbol. It was eventually eliminated altogether in 1987. This poster is celebrating diversity, ans ia calling for citizen rights for men and women. This poster was made in 1990 and is in good condition.
