Description
This poster is part of a collection of 100 posters designed by Ettore Vitale for the Italian Socialist Party (PSI) between 1973 and 1991. The posters promote a range of events and campaigns using the colours of the Italian flag- red, white, and green, along with motifs of roses, rainbows, and stars. This is a white poster with a yellow border and an illustration of a woman carrying a child amongst mimosa flowers, the flowers which are used as a symbol for Festa Della Donna, international women's day in Italy. Black text at the top reads: "A secular victory for a free and aware motherhood

/ Today we commit to improve law 194 and ensure its complete application" This refers to law 194 which legalised abortion in Italy in 1978. A referendum to repeal the law was held in 1981; this poster was part of a PSI campaign to keep it legal.
