Description
This is part of a larger collection of fifty posters produced for the Italian socialist party from 1892 to 1970. This is a poster made of white card - there is an image on the front. This shows a man in a field - the background has factories and a large sun setting. The man is holding a large hammer, looking down at a piece of metal and a chain which are placed on a tree stump - the figure is doing some kind of metal work. The man in the image is wearing a flatcap and apron. The bottom of the poster has red text saying "1 Maggio 1901." This translates to "1st May 1901." This is referring to the International Workers' Day, also known as Labour Day in some countries and often referred to as May Day, is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labour movement and occurs every year on May Day (1 May).
