This poster is the 14th in a collection of posters about Pietro Nenni, an Italian socialist politician who was also the national secretary of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI) and a lifetime Senator since 1970. The poster is titled "One historical phase has closed and another opens" and features photographs of Nenni giving speeches. Text at the bottom reads: " During the Resistance, and even before, Nenni had argued that the solution of the institutional problem was of primary importance. Hence, for the reconstruction of the country, his commitment to the campaign for the Referendum: «With the end of the war, a historical phase closed and another opens. Yesterday the dominant problem was that of mobilizing the maximum possible force so that we were not absent from the war that was being fought on our sole Today the problem is to start the nation to solve problems with the minimum possible impact, and avoiding the prospects of war civil. How could we face the tasks of reconstruction without first deciding on the political form of the state and the inspiring principles of our economy? How could we face and solve the thousand problems that arise in the field of internal and international politics, economic and social ones, if we have not first decided on the structure and articulation of the new democratic state and on the very source, popular or dynastic, of power?
