Description
Black postcard with white and red text. The postcard reads "the latest multi-million dollar horror from Pentagon Productions. NEUTRON. From America, no one will hear you scream." The centre of the postcard has a large image of a white neutron bomb. The reverse of the postcard has publishing information, information about nuclear war, and the postcard title, "Neutron Artwork by Paul Morton." The information reads "The neutron bomb leaves property intact, relying upon massive and horrific radiation. Civilians, rather than easily protected tanks, will be the main casualties. The American decision to produce the bomb - announced on Hiroshima day 1981 - flew in the face of European states who had already rejected it. Fired from howitzers or short-range missiles, it brings the day of 'theatre' nuclear warfare closer. That theatre will undoubtedly be Europe - if we allow it. Yorkshire Region CND." There is a Leeds Postcards logo - Leeds Postcards was founded in 1979, with the intention of using postcards “as a political tool and agent for change”.

They quickly became well-known, producing some iconic work with activist groups such as the Medical Campaign Against Nuclear Weapons (MCANW) and CND branches across the country, and artists including Peter Kennard and Steve Bell. They are still publishing postcards today.

Throughout the 1980s, Leeds Postcards published a number of cards satirising the threat of nuclear war, and celebrating the movement against the bomb.
