Postcard

1982

Description
Postcard with two side by side newspaper frontcovers. These images are black white; the one of the left is the Daily Mail and says "Antelope dies in a blaze of glory." The other newspaper front cover says "Morning Star, Senseless sacrifice." Both newspapers show the same image of HMS antelope, a boat with an explosion behind it - this was a British Royal navy boat that participated in the Falklands war and was sunk by Argentine aircraft in 1982. This was bombed, and there were several casualties. The Daily Mail describes this with glory, whereas the morning star says it was a "senseless sacrifice." The reverse of the postcard has the publishing address and further infomation which reads "The Daily Mail said the trenches of the 1st World War were glorious, too. The verdict of history is different. Without the Morning Star, progressive opinion would have no daily voice. Don't wait for history to prove the point."
