Description
A postcard of a 1908 photograph of a suffragette protest. In the image a woman is standing next to a police officer and carrying a placard which reads "Votes for women this session" Black text on the back of the postcard reads: "'Personally conducted or is it a mild flirtation?' / a suffragette demonstrating in Whitehall. The style of placard with the arrow at the top indicates that she may have been to prison for her involvement in the campaign for votes for women. To avoid beingarrested for obstruction she is walking in the road and not on the pavement"
