EMA stands for Education Maintenance Allowance and was revoked in 2010 alongside the tuition fee rises brought on by the coalition Conservative/Liberal Democrat government. The repeal of EMA and tuition fee rise saw student protests all over the country, including a student occupation of Millbank, the Conservative Party headquarters in central London. This campaign by Socialist Students, is one of many fighting to bring back EMA.
