Description
Poster, advertising a concert by Inti-Illimani in aid of Chile.
The poster is visually confused, and not easy to read. The background begins at the top of the poster with a wall scratched with words - possibly names - before it fades to black. Imposed over this is a red line-drawn dove, symbolising peace, nesting on top of a guitar (also line-drawn in red), which features the five pointed star of the Chilean flag over hashed shading, suggesting the guitar to be also the flag of Chile. Over the guitar image is the name of the headline band Inti-Illimani, which is designed for each letter to look like a stone wall. Underneath, over the black part of the page, is the supporting act -Adrian Mitchell - along with the informatoin on the date, venue and price of the concert.
Inti-illimani were a Chilean band in exile in Europe during Pinochet's military dictatorship, due to their connection to Allende's Popular Unity government which was overthrown in the coup of 1973. Adrian Mitchell was an English poet, associated with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
