Description
Poster advertising the Victor Jara Festival, 1984.

The poster shows an illustrated image of Victor Jara playing a guitar, coloured in pink and gray. Above is the title of the festival, and to the right (facing) are the names of acts who would be playing at the festival, including Inti-Illimani, Isabel Parra with Patricio Castillo, and Angel Parra. Below is a band of red, featuring white text providing the information about the location, date and time of the festival, and where tickers could be purchased.

The Victor Jara Festival was a recurring event organised by the Victor Jara Committee to raise funds and awareness for the people of Latin America living under dictatorships, repressive regimes, or civil wars. The Festival featured various Latin American musicians and bands, especially those from Chile who were largely living in exile to escape the repression of the Pinochet regime, which was known to have tortured and murdered musicians, including Victor Jara.

The 1984 festival was spondored by the Greater London Council, and the poster features their logo, along with an outline of the London skyline and tag-line "London Against Racism".
