Description
Poster, "No Arms Sales to Chile Fight Tory Policy", produced by the Chile Solidarity Campaign.

The poster is white, with an image of the head of Augusto Pinochet, the military dictator of Chile, in sunglasses. Below him are two crossed semi-automatic rifles. The image as a whole is reflective of a skull and cross-bones. From one of the rifles a tag hangs, reading "Made in Britain". Above the image reads "No Arms Sales to Chile" and below "Fight Tory Policy".

The Pinochet regime came to power in a coup in 1973, overthrowing the left-wing Popular Unity government. The Junta regime was right wing and dictatorial, and was known to have committed atrocities and human rights violations from their taking power. This included the rounding up, torture and murder of supporters of the Popular Unity government. The poster is campaigning against the British Arms Trade supplying arms to Pinochet's government, which would have been widely used in the repression of the peoples of Chile.
