Poster showing a year-to-view calendar, either for the year 1978 or 1989.
The top of the poster features a photograph of a patchwork artwork depicting life in ashanty town in Chile. Below are the dates of the year divided into months. There is no year given, but the dates line up with either 1978 or 1989. Due to the similarity of another calendar in the collection from 1979, it is likely that this one dates from 1978. Beneath the calendar reads "History is ours, for it is made by the people", a quote from Salvador Allende, the former President of Chile who was ousted and killed during the military coup.
The calendar was produced by the Chile Solidarity Campaign to raise funds to support those living under the repressive dictatorship of Augustus Pinochet. The patchwork features was similar to many that were made by women in Chile and sold by the CSC to raise funds to support them through community actions such as soup kitchens.
