Description
Poster, "More than 2,500 Chileans Have Disappeared Save Their Lives!"

Visually striking poster. Five photographs, in red and black tones, are repeated four times in verticle formation, with the red becoming dimmer and fading into the black with each repitition. Between the photographs are bars, suggesting a wire fence of a prison or concentration camp. On the fourth repitition, the photographs give way to red writing provigin the names of some of the 'disappeared' of Chile. In the bottom right corner (facing) is a white portrait of Pinochet, with prison bars reflected in his sunglasses in black and red. Next to Pinochet is the second title "The Criminal is Known".

The poster is referencing the 'disappeared' of Chile; a large group of political prisoners who were arrested in 1973-4. They were unofficial in the prison system, with their families not knowing their location, not being allowed contact, and not knowing their fate. The vast majority of the 'disappeared' were never found.
