Black pin badge with text in pink reading "CAMPAIGN FOR HOMOSEXUAL EQUALITY" written around the edge, with a pink triangle in the centre, inside which reads "CHE".

The Campaign for Homosexual Equality (CHE) was a membership organisation from the 1960s to ‘80s and revived as a charity in 2021. The organisation started as the North-Western Homosexual Law Reform Committee in Manchester. In 1969, it was renamed the Committee for Homosexual Equality, to cover England and Wales. It renamed again to its current form in 1971.

Its aim was to promote legal and societal equality for LGBTQIA people. As a mass-membership organisation through the 1970s and ‘80s, it campaigned against issues such as lowering the age of consent for GBQ+ men (to be equal with heterosexual men) and Section 28. The current CHE aims to advance education around the history of the campaign for LGBTQIA rights and contribute to the preservation of LGBTQIA archives.
