Description
Black and white badge reading "No to Botha! Demonstrate June 2nd" with the Anti-Apartheid Movement logo in the bottom right.

Pieter Botha was a South African politician, and president of the country from 1984 to 1989. He was racist, and opposed the idea of a Black-majority rule in South Africa, campaigning for the 'No' vote in the 1992 Apartheid Referendum, stating that it would be opening the door for Black Majority rule. While his government did introduce reforms to allow for greater "self-rule" for Bantustands (the areas set aside by the government for Black inhabitants), this was effectively a form of gerrymandering, and a way of garnering support whilst protecting the white supremicist central government of Apartheid South Africa. This badge is likely protesting his visit to the UK in 1984.
