A Christmas card sent to the People's History Museum by then Lord Mayor of Manchester Carl Austin-Behan, featuring himself and his husband.
Mr Austin-Behan, OBE, is a former Labour Councillor for Burnage from 2011-2018. He was the first openly gay Lord Mayor of Manchester, serving from May 2016-May 2017. Austin-Behan currently serves as LGBT advisor to Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham. He also campaigns for LGBTQIA+ veterans rights nationally, as a veteran who was discharged from the RAF in 1997 for being gay at a time when it was a crime to be LGBTQIA+ in the armed services.
