Description
Printed leaflet titled "RESISTING THE THIRD WORLD WAR - Ninth International Nonviolent March for Demilitarizaion 16.-30. September 1984 in Grebenhain/Osthessen, West Germany". The demonstration was in opposition to a NATO alliance testing of the US "Airland Battle Strategy" and warns of a Third World War potentially starting at Fulda Gap, "the area of West Germany where the US expects the Soviets to attack first." The reverse side shows a map of Fulda Gap and a tear-off part at the bottom that people could post to receive more information about the March for Demilitarisation.
The International Nonviolent March for Demilitarisation occured annually between 1976 and 1987 in various European cities and towns, organised by and with local peace groups and amps for each one. For example, in 1983 it was held in Brussels, Belgium to protest the IDEE (Electronic Defence Exhibition), and in 1985 across Denmark to successfully campaign against the governmentâs aim to build nuclear weapons.
