Black and white photograph of a small boat sailing in front a submarine. Six people stand on top of the submarine either side of the central tower, possibly Navy personnel. There are three people in the small boat in the foreground. Two of them hold up a placard reading "KEEP NUCLEAR REACTORS OUT" and there is a peace sign placard at the back of their boat.


The reverse in handwriting reads "HMS Churchill - nuclear powered sub. visit to Southampton Feb '89". HMS Churchill was a Royal Navy nuclear submarine, launched in 1968.
