F. P. Cockerill was a Conservative Party electoral candidate in Mansfield in the 1910 General Election. He received 4,200 votes while A. B. Markham, the Liberal Party candidate received 11,383. The reverse of the postcard lays out Cockerill's policies are Unionist and pro-Empire. It includes warnings that voting for Liberal candidates will allow Ireland to become independent, and that he views this as a negative thing. Ireland eventually became independent in 1921.

Note: while the postcard spells his name as 'Cockerell', official records of the election spell it as 'Cockerill'.
