Printed poster with title "SOCIALIST CHRISTIAN LEAGUE - Rt. Hon. GEORGE LANSBURY M.P." It advertises a speech at the Hippodrome, Boscombe on Sunday, March 14th, with songs from the Bournemouth Labour Male Voice Choir also.


George Lansbury a socialist politician and social reformer. He was first elected to Parliament in 1910, and led the Labour Party from 1932-35, but was forced out due to his pacifist views during the rise of European fascism. He was a prominent member of global pacifist organisation War Resisters International (WRI) and spent his later years travelling to campaign for peace and disarmament.
