Description
A paperchain made of eight links of rainbow shaded paper, each link in the shape of an infinity symbol.
The rainbow infinity symbol is used by autistic people to represent the infinite number of ways autistic brains can experience the world - no two autistic people will experience their strengths and weaknesses in exactly the same way. The symbol was created by Australian sociologist Judy Singer in 1998. The infinity symbol is sometimes used in opposition to the autism puzzle piece symbol typically used by autism charities which are not led by autistic people. The two symbols are often juxtaposed on protest signs and social media graphics by autistic people who view the puzzle piece as having negative connotations suggesting that autistic people are misfits.
