Black and white leaflet title "White poppies for peace" printed to coincide with Peace Week 3-11 1990. The leaflet describes the aims of the Peace Pledge Union (PPU), while the reverse contains an order form for white poppies, rememberence information packs and posters.


Founded in 1934, the Peace Pledge Union (PPU) promotes pacifism and nonviolence, educates on conscientious objection, and challenge everyday normalisation and veneration of the military. PPU distribute the white poppy each year in the run-up to Remembrance Day, as a symbol of remembrance of all victims of war, a challenge of militarism, and a commitment to peace. The poppies were first made in 1933 by the Co-operative Women's Guild, many of whom had lost family and friends in the First World War.
