Description
Circular white badge, "GCHQ trade unionists sacked! Support them" in red text, with "SACKED!" in white on a black banner across the middle of the badge. Between 1984 and 1997, there was a ban on trade union membership for employees of GCHQ, the Government Communications Headquarters, as the Conservative government claimed it would risk national security. It was the second-longest dispute in British trade union history. The ban was overturned by the new Labour government in May 1997.
