In 1983, the US invaded Grenada following a coup by the Revolutionary Military Council, during which Grenada’s Prime Minister Maurice Bishop was arrested and executed. The United Nations General Assembly condemned it as "a flagrant violation of international law" on 2 November 1983, and it was widely protested across Europe.
