Description
A mid-Victorian Friendly or Trade society jug bearing the fraternal and christian sentiments: The Real Cabinet Of Friendship. All Helped His Neighbour. Some early trade unions, called trade societies, adopted the name Friendly society so as to circumvent the government's Combination Acts of 1799. The Combination Acts made it illegal for more than three workpeople to meet to discuss wages and conditions.
