Description
Screenprinted poster, “Do you want Portobello green fenced? Please tell the trust what you think” is in red text on a blue illustration of a curving bypass road. To the right on a blue sky background is red text, “the Amenity Trust has kept it unfenced because it seemed friendlier but some people think the green is now just a dog's lavatory and open air boozer. What do you think? Do you want a public meeting?” At the bottom in red text on cream is “text call or phone North Kensington Amenity Trust”. The full page illustration shows a building and trees fenced off by a large road that is blocking the sky.

This poster was made by Paddington Printshop, a community graphic design and print workshop in West London, co-founded by John Phillips and Pippa Smith. Between 1975-1991, the centre printed over 400 designs for left-wing community organisations. These publicised local political campaigns such as housing rights and food co-ops, to social gatherings including play days, gardening clubs, gigs and festivals. Their do-it-yourself style was part of the proto-punk ethos.
