Description
Screenprinted poster, “North Paddington women's club” in green at the top. Below in purple on the orange cream background is “Everybody welcome. Children's rights, the rights of parents and school-aged children. Women's legal rights – married, single or living with him. Toys – how to make your own at home. Our bodies, how they work. Food - what we should eat, daycare – should I work and leave my child? Equal pay for women. Men and women – equal responsibility in the home.” Each of the titles has a date next to it through October and November. At the bottom also in green reads “Creche - tea, every Thursday 1:30-4:00, 510 Harrow Road.”

This poster was made by Paddington Printshop, a community graphic design and print workshop in West London, co-founded by John Phillips and Pippa Smith. Between 1975-1991, the centre printed over 400 designs for left-wing community organisations. These publicised local political campaigns such as housing rights and food co-ops, to social gatherings including play days, gardening clubs, gigs and festivals. Their do-it-yourself style was part of the proto-punk ethos.
