National Association of Theatrical Television and Kine Employees (NATTKE)
Description
The National Association of Theatrical Television and Kine Employees (NATTKE) was a UK trade union for cinema, theatre and television employees. Originally called the UK Theatrical and Music Hall Operatives' Union, the union was founded after a strike at a London theatre in 1890. The union incorporated cinema and television workers as those art forms became more prominent during the 20th century. NATTKE was affiliated to the Trades Union Congress. From 1932-1970, Labour MP Tom O'Brien was the General Secretary of NATTKE. The union merged with other television unions in 1984 to become the Broadcasting and Entertainment Trades Alliance.
