Description
Machine stitched and handpainted banner for the NALGO Black Members' Group. Created by Dragon Banners in 1991. Red fabric in the centre with green border and gold fringe on the bottom edge. Painted in the middle is the image of two large hands with manacles on the wrists, breaking a chain. The artist's signature has been painted directly into the top edge of the left manacle. In black block lettering above the image is the text 'NALGO BLACK MEMBERS' and beneath 'NONE SO FIT TO BREAK THEIR CHAINS AS THOSE THAT BEAR THEM'. The central square is lined with yellow fabric, and in each corner is a smaller painted image.

Lower right corner: a hospital chart with a red line on it attached to a bed
Lower left corner: a laptop screen with green blocks
Upper left corner: a yellow frame with a red centre
Upper right corner: a red double decker bus with yellow wheels in front of a clock tower.

Towards the bottom, in the green section, is white cursive text, handpainted, 'self organisation since 1982'.

The top of the banner is trimmed with yellow, and has nine loops for hanging.
