Description
A blue-black cotton velvet sash with metallic detailing. Coiled metallic thread embroidery begins about 100mm from the top, depicting an eye with a series of 15 rays reaching out around it; the pupil of the eye is made in black thread, and the rays are decorated with metal sequins. Below this is another design, a series of balancing weights, one at the top holding two more on each arm.
The text begins here, corded metallic thread embroidery spelling out âL.C.T.Uâ before another series of designs: two shaking hands, a horse, and a hand holding a whip. Below this is more text: âPresented to Bro R.W.Croot by the Bros as a mark of Respect for his past services in the Chair of No 64 Branchâ with a laurel leaves design below. Metallic thread edging lines all outer edges of the sash. A metallic fringe lines the left side of the sash over the shoulder, likely to add detail when worn. In addition, a 75mm fringe has been added to the bottom edge.
There is a black 30mm x 30mm tag with yellow embroidery: the outline of a shield with âTOYE` & Co MANUFACTURERS, // 57, THEOBALDS Rd LONDON.W.C.âÂ
