Description
Cream landscape banner with a thin green border surrounded by embroidered pink, purple, blue and yellow flowers. In the centre the text âFor Peace & Socialism in the Countrysideâ is embroidered in small italics with âCOUNTRY STANDARDâ embroidered beneath.
The Country Standard is a rural journal, published intermittently since 1936. The Communist Party of Great Britain dominated its content. It is still produced annually online, by an editorial collective of Communist and Labour Party members, environmentalists, and trade unionists.
This banner was made by campaigner Phyllis Hood, who attended the Royal School of Needlework
The Country Standard slogan âFor peace and socialism in the countrysideâ appeared on many of their newsletter headings.
